Post Production Systems Administrator II (New York)

The Post Production Systems Administrator II supports all IT and engineering requests from staff and clients in our New York facility. Applicants must have a minimum 3-4 years of experience in a similar role.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who can work independently, and who has excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills. In addition, this person must be able to detect and solve technical and workflow issues that arise throughout the facility. Since the position involves frequent communication with staff and clients, an ideal candidate will also have an approachable and friendly demeanor and will be able to explain technical information to non-technical users. Finally, the ideal candidate must be committed to quality and have a passion for new technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience installing and supporting computing hardware and software:
    • Apple OS X (Client + Server)
    • Microsoft Windows
    • Linux
    • Avid Media Composer
    • Apple Final Cut Pro
    • Adobe Premier
  • Experience administering the Storage Area Networks:
    • Quantum StorNex
    • Apple xSAN
    • Facilis Terrablock
    • AVID ISIS
    • QLogic Fibre switches
  • Experience supporting the networking and connectivity platforms including the following:
    • Firewalls, routing, and VPN
    • Network switches
    • KVM switches
    • Video signals and routing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with post production systems including DVS Clipster, Quantel Pablo, and Black Magic DaVinci Resolve
  • Experience with DCI cinema projectors, cinema servers, and Dolby audio systems
  • Experience with Aspera and similar web-based file transport tools

This position requires occasional lifting and moving of light to medium-weighted objects (10-50 pounds).

Archive Dailies Technician (Los Angeles)

The Archive Dailies Technician restores, transfers, and stores client media according to specifications provided by the the Senior Media Archivist. This position also applies existing color, syncs sound, transcodes appropriate proxy files, and facilitates uploads to cloud-based client storage. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills and incredible attention to detail. The successful candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently and be flexible to quickly switch priorities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately operate Colorfront Express Dailies
  • Perform accurate sound syncing
  • Test new software and hardware
  • Utilize YoYottaID
  • Restore and verify LTO/LTFS
  • Efficiently utilize command line utilities
  • Report/track bugs and crashes of software/hardware

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital cinema cameras (e.g., ARRI Alexa, RED Dragon, Panasonic VariCam, Panavision DXL) and their related workflows
  • Experience with transcoding software
  • Experience with edit platforms (e.g., Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere)
  • Strong knowledge of both Mac and Windows operating systems
  • General computer networking experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Colorfront Express Dailies
  • Sound syncing experience
  • Experience using YoYottaID
  • LTO/LTFS restoration experience
  • Understanding of checksum hashes
  • Comfortable using command line utilities

Data Management Operator (Los Angeles)

The main role of the Data Management Operator is to manage and maintain all data based work order requests from Production and Operations. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who can handle multiple tasks concurrently. The successful candidate is an effective communicator with Production and Operations staff regarding the management of space for each project, and will collaborate with the Engineering team to troubleshoot and create more efficient workflows with the storage network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Input and export files from work order requests
  • Transfer files using client-specified methods based on work order requests (Aspera, Signiant, etc.)
  • Create and maintain proper directory structure for feature and episodic projects
  • Communicate progress on projects internally and to requesting owners
  • Monitor the storage network; correct file names and provide proper directory structures, report and delete when space is needed
  • Work with Production, Operations, Archival, and Machine Room staff to execute data requests
  • Research LTO archival and verification methods
  • Perform virus check function on each incoming file into the facility
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills/Experience Required:

  • A basic understanding of file-based work flows, color space, and codecs
  • Experience with post-production systems including storage area networks, DVS Clipster, AVID, FCP, Adobe CS
  • Experience with Linux, Unix, IOS, Windows
  • Experience with file transfer tools (Aspera, Signiant)
  • Experience with handing Firewires, LTOs, optical media, and USB storage devices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills within a fast-paced post-production environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

This position is for the evening hours, and may require long hours and some weekend work. Starting hours are typically in the afternoon or evening of each day and will be based on client workload demand.

Jr. Editor – Features (Los Angeles)

The role of our Jr. Editor will be to work with our Senior Finishing Artist, producers, colorists, and our engineers to support a custom workflow tailored to the needs of our clients. This position will be scheduled in the evening hours for a broader range of available services. A qualified applicant will be ambitious, self-motivated and able to work supervised and unsupervised.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide conforming and editorial support to the Senior Finishing artist
  • Conform feature length and short form projects from original camera negative (file based)
  • Review and ensure that all elements meet technical specifications
  • Create basic opticals as required
  • Work closely with our in-house producers and colorists to meet deadlines and complete work orders accurately
  • Operate different tools to complete each conform task
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills/Experience Required:

  • A complete understanding of file-based work flows, color space, and codecs
  • Avid, Final Cut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects and Quantel Pablo Rio
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a post production environment
