Jr. Outpost Technician (Los Angeles)

Outpost® is Light Iron’s mobile post production platform for on-set color and data management, near-set dailies creation, backup, archive and data verification, and iPad review and collaboration tools.

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join the Outpost team to:

  • Assist in assembly and service of Outpost systems
  • Track inventory
  • Test new software and hardware
  • Assist in shipping of equipment

If you are a self-starter with the ability to think on your feet and solve complex problems under pressure, you may have what it takes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital cinema cameras (e.g., ARRI Alexa, RED Dragon, Panasonic VariCam) and their related workflows
  • Experience with edit platforms (e.g., Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere)
  • Strong knowledge of both Mac and Windows operating systems
  • Production set experience
  • Ability to lift or move equipment/objects weighing up to 50lbs

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Introductory knowledge of post production workflows
  • Experience with transcoding software
  • Sound syncing experience
  • Scripting language capabilities (Apple script, Python)

This position requires occasional lifting and moving of medium-weighted objects (10-50 pounds).

Machine Room Operator/DI Assist (Los Angeles)

Schedule will vary, but an evening shift can be expected.

This position encompasses a wide array of tasks and responsibilities related to motion picture finishing for film and television. The ideal candidate for this position has a diverse background of skills and technical abilities and is able to complete complex, technical tasks in an efficient manner. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail are a must for this position.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist in the delivery of both file and tape based feature and episodic television final deliverables.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience and proficiency with the following tools:
    • DVS Clipster
    • A variety of HD and SD tape decks (e.g., SRW5500, DVW-A500)
    • Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve
    • Avid Media Composer
    • Adobe After Effects
    • Colorfront Transkoder

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of and ability to create file & tape-based deliverables, including:
    • DPX sequences
    • DCDM / DCP / KDM creation and QC
    • ProRes creation
    • DNxHD
    • HD and SD tape editorial
    • Signal flow

Post Production Systems Administrator I (Los Angeles)

The Post Production Systems Administrator I supports all IT and engineering requests from staff and clients in our Los Angeles facility. Applicants must have a minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who can work independently, and who has excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills. In addition, this person must be able to detect and solve technical and workflow issues that arise throughout the facility. Since the position involves frequent communication with staff and clients, an ideal candidate will also have an approachable and friendly demeanor and will be able to explain technical information to non-technical users. Finally, the ideal candidate must be committed to quality and have a passion for new technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience installing and supporting computing hardware and software:
    • Apple OS X (Client + Server)
    • Microsoft Windows
    • Linux
  • Cabling:
    • Wire Management
    • Pulling cable
  • Other assignments as instructed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with post production systems including DVS Clipster, and Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, AVID, FCP, Adobe CS
  • Experience with DCI cinema projectors, cinema servers, and Dolby audio systems
  • Experience with Aspera and similar web-based file transport tools
  • Experience administering the Storage Area Networks:
  • Experience supporting the networking and connectivity platforms including the following:
    • Firewalls, routing, and VPN
    • Network switches
    • Video signals and routing
