Light Iron announces today that its iPad-based LiVE PLAY mobile playback application is now available worldwide on Apple’s iTunes store for $34.99.

LiVE PLAY is an automated and interactive playback system that enables users to review takes from the set—often seconds after the director calls “cut”—and add comments via multiple iPads.  Fully wireless, fully secure and fully customizable, LiVE PLAY offers an entirely new level of collaboration amongst principals on set, furthering creative and technical communication between the production, visual effects department, the studio, and the editorial team.  LiVE PLAY’s powerful tools include instant HD playback, database creation, and metadata management, all without relying on an Internet connection. The system works with virtually unlimited iPad users.

Light Iron has already received fantastic feedback from directors and producers who have used the company’s LiVE Play and mobile dailies applications via its beta testing program.  According to Light Iron CEO Michael Cioni, several directors contributed to the application design.  “With iPad popularity on the rise, LiVE PLAY is an ideal way for creatives to have access to their content while on set using their own tools,” says Cioni.  “The response has been overwhelming.” Light Iron’s iPad clients include Paramount Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, Lakeshore Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, and NBC Universal.
