Dailies Assistant (Los Angeles)

Assist with the process of client media according to specifications provided by Dailies Producer

Key Responsibilities

  • Ingest, Transcode, sync sound, back-up, archive, and facilitate uploads
  • Report/track bugs and crashes of software/hardware
  • Assist Dailies Operator as required
  • Test new software and hardware
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Willingness to travel (possibly for extended periods)
  • Experience with digital cinema cameras (e.g., ARRI Alexa, RED Dragon, Panasonic VariCam) and their related workflows
  • Experience with transcoding software
  • Experience with edit platforms (e.g., Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere)
  • Strong knowledge of both Mac and Windows operating systems
  • General computer networking experience
  • Willingness to acquire new skills as technology and/or workflow evolve

2D Compositor / Paint Artist (Los Angeles)

The 2D Compositor / Paint Artist will augment the company’s current feature film and episodic finishing divisions by providing in-house visual effects services requested by customers. 2D Compositing and paint responsibilities include, but are not limited to: crew and production equipment and logo removal, monitor compositing, and beauty work. Additionally, the candidate must be proficient with the visual effects pulls process as well as with preparing elements for outsourced visual effects work. The candidate must be a collaborative team player and a motivated self-starter who is willing to take initiative, learn, grow and develop new/ innovative workflow methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute client requests using a variety of software tools
  • Evaluate bid time frame and best workflow to accommodate client request
  • Communicate effectively and directly with Production Team
  • Collaborate with Editorial, Color, and Data teams
  • Work with and communicate to clients for revisions and approvals
  • Manage multiple requests with alternating deadlines
  • Maintain multiple projects schedules and progress updates

Post Production Systems Administrator II (Los Angeles)

The Post Production System Administrator II is an integral Engineering team member who will support IT and Engineering requests from staff and clients at Light Iron LA and work closely with the Engineering team and Light Iron management to increase efficiency across the organization by optimizing current and building new post production systems, media pipelines, and operational policies and procedures. Applicants should have a minimum 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.

The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of feature and episodic workflows, techniques, and tools and understand the challenges and goals of creative and technical teams alike. The System Administrator is a self-motivated individual with a desire to learn and ability to address issues promptly and communicate them to the larger team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy and support a range of hardware and software including routing, tape decks, video scopes, DCI projectors and cinema servers, OLED monitors, calibration tools, audio systems, video routers and patch bays, SAN, NAS, Avid Nexis and ISIS, firewalls, KVM systems, OSX, Windows, Linux, Film Light OS systems, Resolve systems, Avid, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Colorfront Transkoder and EXD, DVS Clipster, Aspera Faspex and Signiant Media Shuttle
  • Occasionally support for on-set/near-set dailies deployments
  • Rapid response support for all client facing services
  • Research 3rd party products and services to suggest the best tools for the business requirements
  • Stay up to date with industry standard tools and practices to maintain cutting edge infrastructure

 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience maintaining post production facilities in a systems administrator and/or engineering capacity
  • Strong working knowledge of video and audio file formats and industry standard and studio delivery specifications – particularly UHD and HDR (HDR 10, 10+, and Dolby Vision) workflows
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships with technical contacts at client facilities and studios
  • Ability to manage several projects at once – the organization is lean and individual responsibility is paramount
  • Strong writing and verbal skills, particularly in communicating technical processes in a non-technical manner

Evening Media Archivist (New York)

The Media Archivist I is an integral part of the Archive department, overseeing all aspects of archive: Verification, pulls, and final DI archives, as well as a small bit of server and storage management. Applicants should already have at least a cursory understanding of the skills listed below.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills and incredible attention to detail.  The successful candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently and be flexible to quickly switch priorities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

          • Perform data verification of final archives of camera negative both delivered from set and archived in-house
          • Communicate with in-house and on-set technicians to address issues and resolve them
          • Restore selected material from existing archives for VFX pulls and conform turnovers
          • Archive final picture master deliverables to a variety of client specifications
          • Manage online media storage across SANs and NASs
          • Report/track bugs and crashes of software/hardware
          • Test new software and hardware
          • All other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills/Experience:

        • Understanding of digital cinema cameras and their production and post-production workflows
        • Understanding of checksum hashes
        • Understanding of general computer networking
        • Experience in Mac environments, including *nix command-line interaction

Evening Operations (Los Angeles)

The Evening Operations position will increase the management presence into the evening of Light Iron’s Los Angeles facility. This role manages each evening’s facility and operations needs, and must ensure sessions, projects, and clients are managed into the evening hours. The ideal candidate possesses strong receiving and handoff skills with Operations, Scheduling and Production Teams.

Key Responsibilities:

      • Oversight of evening vault, security, client services, machine room, engineering, artistic, and production activities
      • Support production teams with making changes to schedule and resource requests
      • Work with operations leadership to devise and execute strategies to improve operational efficiency and scale
      • Contribute to the development of products to support operational needs
      • Report daily projects and feedback including immediate notification for any emergency needs
      • Provide leadership and mentoring to evening staff to meet or exceed goals
      • Communicate with company management regarding overall needs and ideas for changes
      • Actively review for scheduling conflicts and propose solutions
      • Act as a contact for customers who need to engage with a senior-level person
      • Daily room check and communication of any items that need adjustment

Required Skills/Experience:

      • College degree or Certificate in Business, Finance, Post Production, or equivalent
      • Managerial and leadership experience, with ability to delegate
      • Strong customer service and interpersonal abilities; comfortable making decisions to ensure project success

Post-production finishing studio in New York seeks a Client Service Representative. We are looking for an outgoing, personable, and energetic self-starter. Duties include receiving clients, food preparation and presentation (baking/cooking), office organization/cleanliness, opening responsibilities and light facility maintenance. Looking for a candidate interested in bringing new ideas to our studio and is capable of maintaining our exceptional standards in client services. Prior experience in post-production industry and/or experience as front desk a plus. You should have a great eye for food presentation and an emphasis in warm hospitality.

Provide support for the dailies team during off-hours and ensure a smooth transition into the evening dailies shift in the New York location as well as remote help if needed with other dailies locations/ cities.
