The Social Network was the first feature film to be shot on the RED M-X sensor, breaking new ground for digital post workflow in the process. Throughout most of the DI, director David Fincher was in Europe preparing for his next project The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In order to stay on schedule, Light Iron colorist Ian Vertovec matched the screens of his and Fincher’s laptops, allowing Fincher to make annotations from Europe that Vertovec could use to correct the images on his Pablo workstation in Los Angeles. When Fincher returned from Europe, the film was still on schedule. The final stages of DI were completed using a Sony 4K projector under the same conditions the film would later be projected in theaters.
